Local radio station AM 1680 The Answer will be the broadcast home for Fresno Pacific University athletics beginning with the 2015-16 men’s basketball season. The station also will air a weekly Sunbird Sports Show covering all 14 of the college’s sports teams.

The Answer will air all 14 home men’s basketball games beginning Nov. 21 when the Sunbirds host California Maritime.

“I like the fit,” says Skip Essick, managing partner of Compass Broadcasting, owner of The Answer. “Our programming strategies are very well aligned with Fresno Pacific University. … By becoming the voice of the Sunbirds, AM 1680 The Answer will have an opportunity to reach new listeners.”

While the partnership will begin with men’s basketball and select women’s games, it will likely expand to other sports in the future.

Aaron Henderson, Fresno Pacific’s athletic director, says that as the school moves into active NCAA Division II membership status, it was important to secure a radio home for the teams.
