A groundbreaking ceremony for the future home of Valley Public Radio will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, at the Research & Technology Park at Temperance and Highway 168 in Clovis.
The local radio station was able to raise the $1.6 million needed to proceed with the construction through donations for private and national donors, including the Assemi Family and James Irvine Foundation.
“The James Irvine Foundation recognizes the importance of this region and values the crucial role Valley Public Radio plays with their high-quality in-depth reporting and community engagement,” says James Irvine Foundation CEO Don Howard.
The land was purchased in December of 2013.
“We are creating an even stronger voice for the community, and a physical gathering place as well,” says Mariam Stepanian, KVPR president and general manager.
KVPR is currently located at 3437 W. Shaw.
