Local moviegoers will finally be able to have that long-promised beer (or wine if they’re classy).
Sales of beer and wine at Sierra Vista Cinemas 16 will begin tomorrow, says Neil Pearlmutter, vice president of Sierra Vista Cinemas parent company Santa Rosa Entertainment Group. The theater’s liquor license specifies that all sales must be made at a designated area, which the theater put just inside the auditorium entrance. Construction delays kept the theater from beginning sales last week.

The theater will offer four beers on draft and have five bottle selections, “including well-known classics, as well as craft,” Pearlmutter says. That includes brews from Sierra Nevada, Drakes and Modelo. The wine selection will include Sonoma and Napa counties and Central Valley wines, though no specific wineries were given. Though there is no word yet on pricing, beer will be sold in 16 ounces cups with a limit of two per purchase, as per Alcohol Beverage Control rules. ABC also stipulates that alcohol be served in containers that are significantly different from the traditional theater cups and that the theater have a monitor to check on the sales every 30 minutes.
Along with beer and wine, guests will find an expanded food menu, Pearlmutter says. It will feature gourmet sausages, panini sandwiches, pizzas and more.
