Just in time for tonight’s Beary XMas show, organizers of the annual Grizzly Fest have dropped the first round of artists playing this year’s festival, which happens April 29 at Chukchansi Park. Both concerts are anchored by Fresno rapper Fashawn.
As in past years, the festival is heavy on underground hip-hop and indie-rock and balanced with darlings from the local scene. At the top of the lineup is Bay area rapper E-40 and Pennsylvania rock band Dr. Dog, the dub reggae singer Collie Budz, the Los Angeles hip-hop group Dilated Peoples and the Burger Records Cumbia punk band Thee Commons. The full list includes: Hate Drugs, 1800s, Slow Season, 40 Watt Hype, Sagey, Call Me James and Lou Umbra.
Early bird tickets are $35-$70 (for VIP) and on sale now at www.grizzlfest.com.
This is, of course, not the full lineup. We can expect to see a second round of announcements in the next few weeks. If the festival hold true to the past few years, that should include at least one big-name reggae-rock act.
