Two popular Latin acts have been added to The Big Fresno Fair concert lineup, leaving just one date left to fill before the fair opens Wednesday, Oct. 5.
The regional Mexican group Banda MS and Tejano group Intocable will take up the fair’s two Sunday night performance slots. Banda MS plays Sunday, Oct. 9, and Intocable plays Sunday, Oct. 16. Tickets are $35-$100 and $14-$40, respectively, and available 9 a.m. Monday, Aug. 29. Presale tickets will be available until 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, for Big Fair Fan Club members.
The 16-member Banda MS, or Banda Sinaloense MS de Sergio Lizarraga, was founded in Sinaloa in 2003. The all-brass band is wooing bilingual millennials who may not typically be fans of banda music. Its latest album, “Que Bendicion” was No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin albums chart. Tellingly, it also ranked 71 on Billboard’s Top 200.
Intocable plays a fusion Tejano conjunto music, mixing Norteño folk rhythms and pop ballads. The Texas band has won two Grammy Awards was Billboard Magazine’s “Group of the Decade,” in 2010. Earlier this year, the band headlined the SXAmericas All Latino Showcase at SXSW, where it played to 50,000 fans over three days. It played the Rainbow Ballroom in July.
Early this month, the fair added Florida pop singer Jason Derulo to its lineup. The “Whatcha Say” singer (and “So You Think You Can Dance” judge) performs Thursday, Oct. 6. Tickets are $40-$45 and on sale now.
