Call it a bowling alley on steroids. Bowlero is like no other bowling alley you’ve seen in Fresno, and it celebrates its grand opening on Saturday.
Flat-screen, high-definition monitors line the back of the 48 lanes, black lights provide a cool vibe and a new menu specializes in shareable appetizers like the Behemoth Burger – a 5-lb, 14-inch-round party burger. There is also a 1973 Ford Mustang on display near the front of the main counter.
The transformation makes you forget this used to be AMF Sierra Lanes at Blackstone and Sierra avenues. The lovable but dated bowling hangout was a favorite for families looking for some indoor fun.
Operators of Bowlero, a national concept developed by Bowlmor AMF, are hoping the public appreciates the new look as it tries to attract a wider audience. Several posts on Instagram show the new look is paying off.
Bowlero bowling alleys in Southern California haves become a den for the hip and famous. Hip hop artist Iggy Azalea and football player Odell Beckham Jr. have been spotted there, as have Kylie Jenner and her squad.
Not only is Bowlero a feast for the eyes, the new concept also hopes to appeal to your taste buds. The bowling alley has flat bread pizza, fried pickles, hamburgers, loaded fries, salads, wraps, craft beer and specialty cocktails in a revamped sports bar. There is one drink called the Dunk Tank that includes Bacardi Black, Bacardi Coconut, Bacardi Silver, Bols Amaretto and assorted juices.
And if bowling is not your thing, the 50,000-square-foot space has an arcade packed with games, including World’s Largest Pac-Man, The Walking Dead, Mario Kart and The Giant Crane. Bowlero also features old-school table games like billiards and beer pong.
A Bowlero is planned to open later this month in Visalia.
