Local briefs: Fresno City downs COS soccer

Nationally ranked Fresno City scored three goals in the second half en route to a 4-0 wipeout of College of the Sequoias in a Central Valley Conference men's soccer match.

The victory snapped a three-match winless streak for the Rams, ranked No. 6 in the country. Rory Agu scored both of his goals within a four-minute span in the second half.

Joe Colmenero had a goal and an assist and Trae Garton also scored.

Fresno City (9-4-4) improved to 2-1-1 in conference. Sequoias (6-2-6) is 1-1-2.

West Hills-Lemoore won its first CVC match by pulling off a 3-1 upset of visiting Taft, the No. 9 team in the nation.

The Falcons (8-4-2) are 1-2-1 in the CVC and Taft (10-4-1) is 2-2.

Rams women tie DeAnza

Fresno City's women, ranked sixth in the nation, had to settle for a 1-1 tie against visiting DeAnza in a non-conference soccer match.

DeAnza tied it in the 90th minute on Ryanne Hernandez's free kick. Fresno City (9-1-6) had opened the scoring on Sabrina Arietta's goal in the 27th minute.
