These special hunts take place in State Wildlife Areas and are administered by the Department of Fish and Game's Game Bird Heritage Program.

The first part of dove season runs Sept. 1-15. Included are mourning doves, spotted doves, ringed turtle-doves and Eurasian collared-doves.

The special hunts are as follows:

In addition, the Los Banos Wildlife Area will have three restricted zones for hunting on the opener while the North Grasslands Unit will accept 110 reservations Sept. 1. The Mendota Wildlife Area will not be issuing reservations for the opener.

More detailed information and hunt descriptions can be found at www.dfg.ca. gov/wildlife/hunting/uplandgame/.
