Madera County Sheriff’s deputes are searching for two deer hunters overdue after setting out for Mugler Meadow this week.
Sheriff’s spokeswoman Erica Stuart said a family member reported that the 69-year-old Oakhurst man and the 43-year-old Salinas man were expected home Thursday night. Mugler Meadow is off Beasore Road near Chiquito Ridge, about a two-hour drive from the floor of the central San Joaquin Valley. Stuart said the hunters did not tell family members exactly where they were heading, but had scouted the area around the meadow earlier this week.
Deputies drove to the area, but were unable to find what the hunters reportedly drove to the mountains in, a white Ford F-250 with license number 6K53598. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at (559) 675-7770.
