Derek Carr made another late comeback. This time, it was for Redwood High School’s first-period American Literature class.
On Tuesday morning, Jesus Gallardo, a senior at the Visalia school, sent a tweet to the Oakland Raiders quarterback: “Please help our class get an A+ on the final!! … All we need is one retweet from you!!”
Here is Gallardo with his classmates and teacher James Cain.
Never miss a local story.
The final was 8:27 a.m. Wednesday. Gallardo and his classmates waited. And waited. Finally, early Wednesday morning, the former Fresno State star responded with a “hope it’s not too late.” (Carr crafted seven fourth-quarterback comebacks for the Raiders last season; he’s used to this.)
Gallardo called it a long shot to get a retweet from Carr, but the former Bulldog didn’t disappoint.
On May 18, Carr’s favorite athlete, Kobe Bryant, also received a tweet from a student hoping for a retweet. Several hours later, the former Los Angeles Lakers star came through for the students at an Indianapolis high school.
