Monday recap – Fresno couldn’t hold on to an early 2-0 lead, giving up five unanswered runs in a 5-2 loss in El Paso on Monday night. The Chihuahuas were fueled by home runs from Nick Torres and Patrick Kivlehan and a dominant ninth inning on the mound from Kevin Quackenbush. The 27-year-old right-hander struck out the side to end the game.
Up next – It will be a double debut Tuesday in El Paso as Fresno Grizzlies RH Keegan Yuhl and Chihuahuas RH Rafael De Paula each make their first Triple-A starts in game three of the four-part series at Southwest University Park at 6:05 p.m. Yuhl, who went 8-3 with a 3.04 ERA in 19 outings (17 starts) with Double-A Corpus Christi, was promoted to the Grizzlies last week after the call-up of Joe Musgrove and the trade of Josh Fields. De Paula will make his first start of the season after making 35 bullpen appearances for Double-A San Antonio.
July honors – The Astros named Musgrove their July Triple-A pitcher of the month after posting a 1.89 ERA with a 22:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 19 innings pitched. 1B Tyler White was named the Astros’ Triple-A player of the month after hitting .322 with eight homers and 20 RBIs.
