Never miss a local story.
Tacoma’s Jesus Montero delivered an RBI single to center off Grizzlies reliever Tyson Perez (Fresno City College/Hanford High), advanced to third on Patrick Kivlehan’s single and scored on a double steal to account for all the scoring in the Rainiers’ 2-0 victory at Cheney Stadium. Starter Luis Cruz worked five scoreless innings for Fresno, allowing three hits and three walks while striking out three. Meanwhile, Tacoma pitchers Justin Germano (51/3 innings), Forrest Snow (12/3) and Lucas Luetge (2) combined on a two-hitter. Fresno’s best chance to score came in the fourth inning when Matt Duffy singled and Domingo Santana drew a two-out walk. But Germano induced a grounder from Matt Dominguez to end the inning. The Grizzlies also saw Preston Tucker and Duffy draw back-to-back one-out walks in the sixth before Snow struck out Jon Singleton and Santana to end the threat.
