The Fresno Grizzlies got lucky this year: The Fourth of July is on a Tuesday – aka Taco Tuesday.
So in keeping with their trend-setting tradition, the Triple-A team’s marketing geniuses came up with a special jersey that screams All-American taco.
The jersey was unveiled Tuesday and it quickly got noticed by the Internet.
The team rolled out taco-themed jerseys two years ago as a way to link the region’s taco culture and its love of baseball. The gimmick worked and the Grizzlies never looked back, donning their alter-ego taco jerseys on a semi-regular basis. The team is so obsessed with tacos that it hosts one of the largest taco events in the region, the Taco Truck Throwdown. This year the event has expanded to two days, July 28 and 29.
For July 4 this year, the Grizzlies’ jersey is a red, white and blue mash-up of stars, stripes and tacos.
If you plan to go to the July 4 game, make sure you get your tickets early. The game features a fireworks show immediately after the last out.
