GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Jessie Alcorn and Chloe Ferrari teamed for 16 kills, and Samantha Battles and Hilary Brians controlled the defense with a combined 25 digs as No. 1 Buchanan swept Clovis East to clinch the outright Tri-River Athletic Conference title - the Bears' 12th in 16 seasons under coach Marian Battles. Buchanan on Friday is expected to draw the No. 1 seed for the Central Section Division I playoffs. The Bears won it last year.
Elliana Diepersloot, a 6-foot middle blocker in her third season of varsity play, delivered 26 kills as Chowchilla moved into a tie with Yosemite atop the North Sequoia League standings by sweeping the Badgers. Both teams have one league match remaining.
Jessica Searles and Emily Schoettler combined for 26 kills, Cassidy Hutchins had 17 digs, and Ashlyn White provided 25 assists as Fresno Christian swept Fowler to capture the West Sequoia League title.
