Powered by four four-year starters, Clovis West High shoots for its fourth consecutive Central Section girls team golf championship today at Tulare Golf Course.
Golden Eagles senior standout Asia Adell will be in the first threesome -- along with Redwood's Christina Trujillo and Stockdale's Abby Marina -- set to tee off at 10 a.m. The final grouping -- Yosemite's Mariana Moberly, Mission Oak's Breanna Haney and Frontier's Lexi Keeter -- tees off at 12:16 p.m.
Adell shot a 3-under 69 last Monday at Madera Municipal Golf Course as Clovis West won the North Area championship with the best team round on a regulation course in section history at 378. Clovis West had the previous record, a 391 set last year at Madera Muni.
The rest of the Golden Eagles lineup includes four-year starters Morgan Thomas, Jamie Thomas and Alison Ross, and newcomers Alyssa Orito and Camille Orito.
Frontier, which won the South Area Division II title last week with a 395, figures to be Clovis West's toughest challenge.

The top two teams today advance to the Southern California Championship on Nov. 16 at Murrieta, with the top three there reaching the State Championship on Nov. 19 at Poppy Hills Golf Course in Pebble Beach.
Gatewood goes for third gold
Gabrielle Gatewood's pursuit of a third consecutive section individual singles title in girls tennis continues Friday on her home courts at Redwood.
The top-seeded senior faces 16th-seeded Ryan Shipstead of Bullard to start the third round of the individual tournament at 9 a.m. Friday. Gatewood, who has made an oral commitment to Cal Poly, rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Arvin's unseeded Danielle Abarquez in her first match of the tournament.
The Gatewood-Shipstead winner advances to a 1 p.m. quarterfinal matchup at Redwood against either No. 8 Abby Wattenbarger of Garces or No. 9 Anne Rempel of Edison.
On the other half of the bracket, second-seeded Lyndsay Cooke of Bakersfield Christian faces 15th-seeded Jazmine Martinez in a quarterfinal. Other top seeds remaining include No. 3 Gracie Jacobs of Garces and No. 6 Sydney Austin of Clovis North.
Gatewood, a two-time Bee Player of the Year, has defeated Cooke in the past two singles finals, winning 6-0, 6-3 as a junior and 0-6, 7-6, 6-1 as a sophomore. Gatewood lost to Stockdale's Denise Ellison 1-6, 7-6 (1), 6-0 in the final as a freshman.
The third round of the individual doubles tournament is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. Friday at Redwood, with top-seeded Erin Carlson/Jessica Wang of Buchanan set to face unseeded Nita Blackketter/Lily Lor of Sunnyside.
Second-seeded Lily Schuler/Carolyn Stevens of Bakersfield Christian meet 15th-seeded Chrysta Kazanchyan/Tristen Keller of Clovis West on the other half of the bracket. Third-seeded Carissa Lee/Megan Lee of Buchanan and fourth-seeded Michelle Frea/Robin Draper of Memorial are all on target to reach the 3 p.m. quarterfinals.
Action shifts to Visalia's In-Shape City on Saturday, with the singles and doubles semifinals running concurrently at 9 a.m. and the finals at noon.
Bears face 'Stangs in tennis
Top-seeded Buchanan hosts defending D-I champion Stockdale as the girls team tennis playoffs resume today.
The Bears reached the semifinals with a 9-0 win over No. 9 Clovis. Fourth-seeded Stockdale advanced with an 8-1 win over No. 5 Liberty.
No. 2 Clovis West and No. 3 Bullard -- last season's runner-up -- meet in the other D-I semifinal.
In D-II, Redwood continues the chase for a second straight title when it hosts Memorial in the semifinals. Last year's runner-up and second-seeded Garces hosts No. 3 Frontier in the other semifinal.
