Memorial knocks off Roosevelt

Memorial High took care of business Friday night against Roosevelt, rolling out to a 14-point lead at the half en route to a 42-14 win.

Chris Brown scored two touchdowns and teammate Jose Jolly ran back a 91-yard kickoff for a scored for the sixth-ranked Panthers, now 7-1 overall and atop the North Yosemite League at 3-0.

Roosevelt (4-4, 1-2) received scores from Mark Fields and Paul Juarez.

In Friday's other late games:

*Sunnyside 48, McLane 0: Lejon Mason rushed for five touchdowns as the Wildcats (4-5, 3-0) kept pace with Memorial in the NYL.

*Fowler 18, Woodlake 13: Francisco Hernandez made a highlight-reel catch for what proved to be the winning points, but the Redcats needed a defensive stand to hang on for the nonleague victory.

Woodlake was stopped on fourth-and-5 at the Fowler 25 with 30 seconds left.

Hernandez hauled in a 31-yard touchdown pass from Kenny Corona in the back of the end zone with about 6 minutes to play for the Redcats (6-2).

*Tulare 49, Delano 14: Trevor Jones passed for 238 yards and five touchdowns and Edward Dillihunt scored four times as the fourth-ranked Redskins all but clinched the East Sequoia League title.

Marquess Wilson caught five passes for 102 yards for Tulare (8-0, 4-0).

*Dinuba 37, Central Valley Christian 13: John Lopez's 49-yard scoring pass to Devin Lee with 21 seconds left in the first half provided the key momentum swing for the Emperors (6-2, 3-2 Central Sequoia League).

Lopez completed 9 of 11 passes for 22 yards and three touchdowns before suffering a knee injury in the fourth quarter that forced him to the sidelines.

*Orange Cove 56, Kings Christian 0: Jose Ochoa needed only eight carries to run for 235 yards and five touchdowns in an East Sierra League rout for the Titans (4-4, 2-1).
