Buchanan 28, Clovis 7
Nigel Simons had four rushing touchdowns to lead the No. 1 Bears (8-0, 3-0 TRAC), who led 7-0 at halftime.
Buchanan coach Mike Vogt said the game's key play came in the third quarter when the Bears forced a Cougars fumble at their 40-yard line. The resulting touchdown drive made the score 14-0.
Clovis fell to 3-5 and 1-2.
Corcoran 31, Lindsay 3
A matchup of two of the Central Section's top-ranked Division V teams turned out to be not much of a contest Friday.
Austin Fugate rushed for 126 yards and Pete Armbruster added 100 to lead Corcoran High to a 31-3 East Sequoia League victory over Lindsay.
Corcoran (6-2, 2-0) -- ranked No. 1 in D-V -- jumped to a 21-0 first-quarter lead, capped by two short Armbruster touchdown runs.
Lindsay, ranked No. 3 in the division, fell to 6-3 overall and 1-1 in the ESL.
Clovis West 21, Clovis East 14
The No. 9 Golden Eagles got three first-half touchdown runs from Kendal Brock to take early control before holding on to defeat the No. 15 Timberwolves in a rematch of last year's Central Section Division I championship.
With his team trailing 21-14, Clovis East's Sean Johnson-Bey broke off a 57-yard run to the Clovis West 5-yard line with about 1 minute to play, but the Golden Eagles stuffed four straight running plays.
Earlier in the fourth quarter, Johnson-Bey capped a 17-play, 99-yard drive for Clovis East (3-5, 1-2) with a 3-yard touchdown to make it a one-possession game with 8:49 remaining.
Clovis West (3-5, 1-2) then tried to run out the clock, but stalled at the Clovis East 34 and punted to the 1 with 3:52 to play before Clovis East put together its final drive.
Bullard 20, Sanger 14
The No. 19 Apaches tested the No. 2 Knights, with John Pinedo running 93 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter and Vincent Enriquez adding a 22-yard touchdown run in the third to give Sanger a 14-6 lead at Tom Flores Stadium.
But Bullard scored all its points in the second half -- including two unanswered touchdowns in the fourth quarter -- to pull out the County/Metro Athletic Conference victory, with Jordan Jones running in one from 28 yards and Devan Mack capping the scoring from 2 yards out with 5:16 left to play.
Mack scored 14 points for the undefeated Knights (8-0, 3-0), adding a 31-yard touchdown in the third quarter and a 2-point conversion following Jones' touchdown. Mack rushed 20 times for 139 yards.
Sanger is 3-5 overall, 1-2 in the CMAC.
Reedley 28, Clovis North 7
David Cardoza scored three times and the 20th-ranked Pirates bolted to a 28-0 lead en route to the CMAC victory.
Richard Casteel completed 11 of 15 passes for 113 yards and scored on an 8-yard run for Reedley (6-2, 1-2). He connected with Cardoza on scoring plays of 8 and 22 yards.
Clovis North, top-ranked in Division III, fell to 4-4 and 0-3.
Hanford 46, Mt. Whitney 22
Jared Loewen rushed for 73 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Bullpups (5-3, 3-1 West Yosemite League), who bolted to a 20-0 first-quarter lead.
Connor West led Hanford with 82 rushing yards and Dijon Foster added 77.
Mt. Whitney quarterback Tanner Mendonca, the section's leading passer, was held to one touchdown pass as the Pioneers fell to 5-3, 3-2.
Tulare Western 69, Granite Hills 20
Rudy Lujano passed for 316 yards and six touchdowns, including three to Nathan Allen, as the Mustangs rolled to a win.
Allen finished with 176 receiving yards for Tulare Western (3-5, 2-2 East Yosemite League). Curtis Ricks had 74 receiving yards and two scores.
