THE BUZZ

Edison coach Tim McDonald hopes his son, Tevin (sprained ankle), will be at least 90% for the County/Metro Athletic Conference showdown with Bullard at Chukchansi Park. UCLA-bound Tevin, one of the section's premier players as a safety and multipurpose offensive player, hobbled off the field toward the end of the first half and didn't return in the Tigers' 43-7 win over Hoover.

Running back/linebacker Eric Kendricks (concussion), another section jewel, is questionable for Hoover's CMAC game at Reedley. Kendricks was knocked woozy by Edison nose tackle Rykeem Yates early in the second quarter and didn't return.

Yates, a three-year force, hasn't been offered a scholarship, but "it will happen," Tim McDonald says.

In the year of the quarterback in the section, Reedley senior Richard Casteel has stepped into the spotlight as a two-way threat operating the Pirates' pistol.

Many D-I and D-II coaches north of Kern County will be paying attention to the Frontier-Stockdale result. Stockdale has the goods to win it all in D-I, and maybe the same could be said for Frontier in D-II, the section's deepest division.
