THE BUZZ

Edison running back/safety Tevin McDonald, sidelined for the last three quarters of a 21-19 loss to Sanger with a sprained ankle, said he will miss Friday's County/Metro Athletic Conference showdown against Hoover. He said he hopes to play the following week in yet another CMAC biggie, against Bullard.

Hoover's Eric Kendricks returned an interception for a touchdown against Clovis North a week after his brother, Mychal, did the same for Cal against UCLA. Eric Kendricks, who rushed for 163 yards and scored five touchdowns in the 37-19 win over the Broncos, is being heavily recruited - Cal included. But he's not bent on completing a domestic deal at Berkeley: "I don't have to follow big brother; I'll do my own thing."

Stockdale has progressively climbed in The Bee's top 20 rankings. The Mustangs have lost only to Bakersfield (32-31) in a game they led by 10 points in the fourth quarter. Operating a wing-T offense under coach Mike Snow, Stockdale is averaging 308 yards a game rushing. And its defense features linebacker Isaiah Turner, who helped power the Mustangs to the D-I title in baseball last spring.
