THE BUZZ

A year after Tulare's James Guerrero finished among the state leaders in passing efficiency, highlighted by a 33-to-3 touchdown pass-to-interception ratio, his successor, Trevor Jones, is the apparent state leader. In his first season with the Redskins after transferring from Mt. Whitney, the senior has chased perfection, completing 76% of his attempts for 1,219 yards and 17 touchdowns, without an interception. Also packing a 3.8 grade-point average, Jones is attracting attention from all the service academies (Army, Navy, Air Force) and their triple-option offenses.

One of the most impressive streaks in Central Section football - 13 consecutive seasons of winning records by Sanger - is in jeopardy. The Apaches (2-4) will close the County/Metro Athletic Conference against No. 5 Edison, No. 2 Bullard, No. 17 Clovis North and once-ranked Reedley.

Centennial's Cody Kessler, of the section's top quarterbacks, is out indefinitely with a high ankle sprain. Without him, the Golden Hawks popped Myron Moore for 200 yards rushing and four touchdowns in a 48-6 rout of South.
