BOYS BASKETBALL
Thomas Nelson of Porterville made six 3-pointers against Cesar Chavez in a 67-51 East Yosemite League victory, tying him for fourth best in school history with Ernie Bray (1989) and Shane Snow (1992).
Shaquille Wilson of Lighthouse Christian-Bakersfield set a school record by blocking 14 shots against Visalia Christian in a 62-28 win. That tied him with Clifton Pondexter of Memorial (1970) for fifth best in section history.
Marcus Hall of Bakersfield Christian became the third player in school history to score more than 1,000 points when he scored 32 on six 3-pointers against Arvin in a 79-46 South Sequoia League victory.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Doug White of Corcoran became the fifth winningest coach in section history when his team beat Lindsay 67-41 in an East Sequoia League game. He passed former coach Mary Brown of Memorial, who had 317 wins.
Danielle Alvarado of Bethel Christian became the third player to score all of her team's points, six in a 38-6 loss to Clovis Christian.
REMEMBER WHEN ...
Yvette Roberts, a junior at Washington, scored 42 points, second best in school history, and tied a school record with her sister Ivy (1982) by grabbing 25 rebound to lead the Panthers to a 75-37 Central Sequoia League victory over Selma. Her performance kept Washington unbeaten at 17-0. Roberts hit 20 of 35 shots in the Jan. 26, 1984, game. Cindy Jorgensen led Selma with 19 points.
