BALLS, BATS AND BUZZ

A Terrific Tuesday today will send Clovis West to Buchanan, Bullard to Edison, Memorial to Fresno and Washington to Liberty-Madera Ranchos.

Defending D-I champion Stockdale and K.C. Hobson made a statement last week, throttling then-No. 2 Centennial 14-1 on the road and then-No. 6 North 11-1 at home. Texas A&M-bound Hobson, son of former major leaguer Butch Hobson and author of the eighth-inning walk-off single that beat Clovis 7-6 for last year's D-I title, is hitting .448 with seven home runs and 34 RBIs.

No team in the Central Section represents more intrigue than three-year reigning D-V champion Fowler. Brandon Martinez and his 90-mph fastball are back. The return of two other elite players, Kenny Corona (knee) and Clay Cederquist (shoulder), is unlikely. But don't count out the Redcats.
