BALLS, BATS AND BUZZ

In a 30-team Fresno Easter Classic that included four strong programs from the Sacramento area and another from Oregon, the Tri-River Athletic Conference went 21-4-1 and had Clovis West defeat Clovis East 4-1 in the title game. The Golden Eagles went 5-0, the Timberwolves 4-1, Clovis 4-0, Central and Madera each 3-1 and Buchanan 2-1-1.

Kern County powers Centennial and Stockdale have expressed interest in joining the Fresno Easter Classic next year, when schools from that district will face travel restrictions. The Golden Hawks and Mustangs have been participating in spring tournaments at Las Vegas and San Diego.

Washington pitchers shut out opponents in 27 of 28 innings of the Fowler Easter Classic, yet the team placed third at 3-1. A Dinuba five-run fifth inning beat the Panthers 5-3.
