BALLS, BATS AND BUZZ
Pitchers Darcy Ulrich and Natalie Rendon have kept scores close enough for Buchanan's offense to do the rest. And the unbeaten Bears, ranked 13th in the state by Cal-Hi Sports, get a boost in a few weeks with the return of all-state catcher and four-year starter Rushael Lawley (hamstring injury).
Centennial, ranked 14th in the state by Cal-Hi Sports, rolls behind Ensley Gammel, considered one of the best pitchers in the Central Section.
Defending Central Section Division II champion Tulare looks to be in the hunt again behind returning ace Lauren Crow (0.81 ERA) and slugger Ilissa Facchini (17 RBIs in 16 games).
Fowler is in the middle of a tough preleague schedule that could prepare it for another run at the D-V title.
