Softball playoff games from May 19

Highlights and box scores from Central Section softball playoff games as reported to The Fresno Bee:

SOFTBALL

El Diamante, a finalist in 2008 but fourth-seeded this year, opened the D-II bracket with a 5-2 victory over No. 13 Hoover.

Veronica Baca hit a two-run double, leading No. 9 Clovis North to a 6-2 victory over No. 8 Madera South in D-III.

Stephanie Pierini pitched a no-hitter with 10 strikeouts as No. 8 Chowchilla prevailed 3-0 over No. 9 Roosevelt in D-IV.

Brianna Adams scored on a passed ball, giving top-seeded Laton the lead for good in the fifth in an 11-7 win against No. 4 Mendota in a D-VI semifinal. The Mustangs will play McFarland for the title Thursday. The No. 2 Cougars routed Kings Christian 15-1 as Stephanie Dounseroux drove in five and got the victory.
