Clovis' David Rohm and Clovis West's J.D. Salles had many dominant days in the spring:

ROHM

  • Gives up one earned run, three hits and no walks while striking our three, leaving with a 3-2 lead after four innings in what would be a 5-4 season-opening loss at Stockdale, the eventual D-I champion.

  • Pitches six innings to win 3-1 against Bullard, which would go unbeaten in the County/Metro Athletic Conference.

  • Pitches a complete game and goes 2 for 3 with two RBIs in a 5-3 win over Beyer-Modesto after Clovis had lost two in a row.

  • Shifted at this point from third base to catcher when not pitching and from No. 3 to No. 1 in the hitting order, he goes 7 for 14 and scores six times as the Cougars go 4-0 in the Fresno Easter Classic.

  • Beats Buchanan 1-0 with a six-hitter in Clovis' third TRAC game -- a launching point toward the conference title.

  • Pitches a complete game and hits a three-run homer in a 7-3 win over Clovis West.

  • Hits a leadoff double and scores in the first inning, and plays outstanding defense as a catcher in a 1-0 conquest of Clovis East and Cody Kendall, the eventual TRAC Pitcher of the Year.

  • Gives up six hits in six innings, goes 4 for 4, including two home runs and scores three times as Cougars roll 8-1 at Clovis East for James Patrick's 500th career victory.

  • Goes 3 for 4, drives in two runs and scores two to help Clovis escape, 12-11, at Buchanan.

  • Beats Buchanan 3-0 on two-hitter.

  • Grand slam highlights 3-for-4 performance in TRAC title-clinching 7-3 victory at Clovis West.

  • In D-I playoffs, beats Buchanan 4-3 with eight-inning complete game; doubles and scores to lead off the first and earns win in relief in 11-10 come-from-behind decision over Clovis East; and leads off game with home run, drives in two runs and throws 145 pitches in 7 2/3 innings, giving up three earned runs and falling a strike short of victory in a 7-6 loss at Stockdale in D-I championship.

    SALLES

    • Goes 12 for 23 as a hitter and 2-0 as a pitcher, giving up one run and striking out 22 in 12 innings while being named most valuable player of the Clovis Coca Cola Classic.

    • In Fresno Easter Classic, pitches two hitless innings of relief in 4-3 win over eventual Sac-Joaquin Section champion Jesuit-Carmichael and goes distance in 14-0 victory over Lincoln-Stockton.
