She's qualified because: Kirk was the catalyst on a Redskins squad that won its first section title since 1983. She ripped an RBI double in Tulare's 3-2 eight-inning win over El Diamante in the D-II title game. Kirk had the hot bat, hitting .550 with 55 hits, 37 RBIs and scored 31 runs in Tulare's 25-8 season. She was named MVP of the East Yosemite League and is an all-state nominee. Kirk was a team co-captain and four-year varsity player.

The word: "It's always nice to have kids who will play their hearts out for you every day, and Alyssa is one of those kids. Her empty spot in the grass and in the lineup will be hard to fill." -- Tulare coach Tanya Wilson
