She's qualified because: Proved to be the fastest sophomore in California after placing third in the state D-I race at Woodward Park. Her school-record time of 17:33 was the sixth-best of the day and the fifth-fastest for a sophomore in state meet history. She had the best race of her career by finishing fifth in the seeded race (17:37) at the Foot Locker West Regional at Mt. SAC. She advanced to the Foot Locker National Championships to compete among the top 40 runners in the country at Balboa Park in San Diego. Marvin, who placed 38th (side cramps), is the third girl in Central Section history to qualify for the national meet.

Defining moment: After winning the D-II section title as a freshman, she picked up her second straight section title as the D-I champion in 18:26 -- finishing 19 seconds ahead of the field. She also set a school record in October by placing second in 17:49 at the Clovis Invitational.

The word: "Meghan is the best female distance runner in the history of our school. She has the No. 1 time of any Clovis High girl at Woodward Park and is the school record holder in the 3,200 meters. Of the 10 races she competed in this season, she placed first in five of them and broke the course records at the Mt. Whitney and Golden West invitationals. She has been a dream to coach. As her confidence increases, her times have dropped and she still hasn't grasped how good she is or how good she can be." -- Clovis coach Rob Brenner.
