Buchanan High running back Kendall Milton learned from one of the NFL’s all-time greats.
That would be former Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis, who partnered with Under Armour to host his Academy at IMG in Bradenton, Fla., the past two days.
It was an invitation-only camp for running backs and linebackers.
Never miss a local story.
Milton and Lewis posed for a photo, which shows the 15-year-old high schooler – who will be a sophomore in 2017-18, already taller than the seven-time All-Pro first-teamer. Milton checks in at 6 feet, 1½ inches and 202 pounds. NFL.com listed Lewis at 6-1.
Lewis played all 17 years with the Ravens, helping the team to wins in Super Bowls XXXV and XLVII. He finished with 2,061 career tackles and 41.5 sacks.
“As an overall experience,” said Milton, already the target of many of the nation’s top college programs, “the biggest thing I took away from it was when you feel tired or defeated, meditate and set in your mind that you’re not tired because when your body gives out, your mind is the only thing left and your mind is what will get you through the tough times.
“This was something Ray Lewis taught us. But I really enjoyed Florida and I look forward to being able to compete with athletes in the southern area in the future.”
