Tournament Most Valuable Player Jacob Paradine earned the win and drove in two runs as Dinuba High successfully defended its baseball title in the 31st Fowler Classic with a 7-4 win over Kingsburg at Fowler on Tuesday night.
Paradine, a junior right-hander, struck out six in six innings. He also had two hits. And his run-scoring groundout was part of a four-run third as the 10-7 Emperors established command for good.
Dinuba broke a scoreless tie in the third on a walk to Hunter Garrison, Israel Garcia’s single — one of his three hits — Zack Roberts’ single, Noah Kazirian’s bases-loaded walk, Paradine’s grounder, Austin Anguiano’s sacrifice fly and Greg Olmos’ RBI groundout.
The game was a rematch of the tournament’s 2009 all-Central Sequoia League final won by Kingsburg.
