Fresno City College’s new volleyball coach is Kieran Roblee, who previously was at Bullard and Clovis high schools.
Roblee replaces Tracy Ainger-Schulte, who was hired by Fresno Pacific.
Her reputation in this area as an outstanding player turned coach is second to none.

Roblee last coached at Bullard in 2011, when the Knights went 27-9. She had been serving as athletic director at St. Anthony’s Catholic School.
Roblee played at Fresno State from 1989-90 and ranks sixth in career (2,309) and fifth in single-season (1,355) assists.
A standout at Dos Pueblos High-Goleta, she also played for Cal Poly and Santa Barbara City College. In 2010, she was inducted into the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table Hall of Fame as one of six Outstanding Athlete inductees.
JC football hire – Former East Los Angeles College football coach Eric Marty has been hired for the same post at Reedley College.
Marty coached East L.A. for the past two seasons, posting a 5-15 record. He replaces Randy Whited, who retired at season’s end.
“Coach Eric Marty is a great addition to our athletic department and our college,” Reedley athletic director Javier Renteria said. “I am confident that he will be successful in implementing his vision for our Reedley College football program.”
Reedley is on a two-year postseason ban for improper use of work-study programs.
Eastman earns another honor – Ex-Central High star Colton Eastman has been named to the Baseball American Freshman All-America team, the latest accolade in a rookie college season that saw him help lead Cal State Fullerton to the NCAA Tournament.
Eastman went 8-3 a 2.24 ERA while striking out 100 in 100 2/3 innings across 16 appearances, 15 of them starts.
Earlier, he was named Louisville Slugger’s Freshman Pitcher of the Year and to its overall third team. The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association also put him on its Freshman All-America team.
After a stellar prep career, he was a 20th-round pick by the Minnesota Twins in the 2015 amateur draft but passed up a pro contract to stick with his commitment to the Titans.
PacWest honors Sunbirds athlete – Fresno Pacific junior Donte McDaniel was named the PacWest Men’s Track and Field Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
McDaniel, a team captain in 2016, led the Sunbirds to their first NCAA Division II national championship appearance and was named to the All-America second team after finishing 11th in the nation in the triple jump. He won the PacWest title in the triple jump, finished second in the 100 and was third in the long jump.
The Selma native also was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District first team this season.
Hanford West alum on USC title team – Dagmar Gudmundsson, a multi-time Fresno Bee All-Star in swimming and water polo at Hanford West, was part of USC’s championship women’s water polo team.
Her nine goals during her freshman season included one in the Trojans’ 12-3 victory over San Diego State in the NCAA Tournament.
Two days later, USC defeated Stanford 8-7 for the title and capped a 26-0 season.
JC stars chose four-year schools – Former Fresno City College pitchers Justin Heskett and Matt Walker have committed to Kansas State and UCLA, respectively
Heskett, named Central Valley Conference Pitcher of the Year, finished 8-0 with three saves and a 2.99 ERA in 2016.
Walker was 5-3 and had a team-leading four saves and a 2.95 ERA.
