Congratulations to Mike Batesole and our Fresno State Diamond 'Dogs for an action-packed, well-earned thrill ride to the national championship. In the midst of turmoil in the world of baseball, the Bulldogs put back into focus why we call the game "America's favorite pastime."

This group of fun-loving "kids" exemplified the purity of the game with smiles and comradeship even when they lost.

Thank you, Bulldogs, for giving our kids a fresh outlook and once again something to aspire to in the game of baseball. We can truly celebrate this wonderful group of young men and the fact that they brought home the national championship with great style and example for all of the nation to see.

Just witnessed the greatest sports story ever. Fresno State alum '68 is now in New York, but the joy was exhilarating.

The courage and guts of the entire team is to be cherished. [Steve] Detwiler's performance - the pain he suffered, the triumph of the spirit, all the values we hope to instill in our children - was truly shining on this Field of Dreams.

I lived in the Valley in the Porterville and Terra Bella area for seven years, and I am currently living by Omaha. I had the privilege of attending all but two of Fresno State's games at the CWS. I have nothing but great things to say about this team!

What a positive influence they have been to so many people, especially my 10- and 13-year-old boys who love baseball and sports in general. I want to say "Thanks" to all of the players, coaches, families, and fans who participated in the games and festivities. You are a classy organization, and you made my family's experiences there one that will be remembered and talked about for a long time. Congratulations on your victory, and I will look forward to watching your players in the future.

My son also wants to personally thank [Kris] Tomlinson for coming back to him by the bullpen and giving him a baseball after the second game in the finals. Little gestures like that are actually huge and have a great effect on people.

R U Kidding Me? 6-0 in elimination games? What an outstanding accomplishment from an entire team. Hurt, tired, can't imagine sleeping in a hotel bed for 40 days. Wow!

Thank you to those seniors who literally "sacrificed" by staying in school. The department, the university and the community needed this.

My thoughts: Good job in getting a win against a decent team.

My conerns: the defense showed up ready to play but also were let off the hook a couple of times on some potentially HUGE plays for Rutgers. Conerbacks need to not play so far off the ball. And when they do come up, they need to bump the receivers, put 'em on their backsides, and quit playing follow the leader.

My praise: Offense came together in the second half and looked pretty good. The key, I think was they made adjustments. Keep it going and develop a killer instinct.
