Fresno State went cold late in normally warm Los Angeles, suffering through a 6-minute scoreless stretch in the second half Sunday night in falling to USC 68-63 in a nonconference women's basketball game.
Hayley Munro's two free throws gave the Bulldogs (1-1) a 55-48 lead with 9:40 to play.
USC (1-1) then went on a 13-0 scoring run that was not snapped until Fresno State's Jaleesa Ross hit a jumper with 3:37 to play.
Munro hit a 3-pointer to tie it at 63-63 with 1:58 to play. But four turnovers in the final 2 minutes stalled the Bulldogs' rally.
"You have to give a lot of credit to USC," Fresno State coach Adrian Wiggins said. "We just didn't play a complete enough game. We fouled them too many times, which gave them too many easy shots and free throws, and they made them."
A layup by USC's Briana Gilbreath set up a three-point play to make it 67-63 with 32 seconds to play.
Ross scored a game-high 22 points. Munro was 5 of 7 on 3-pointers, scored 21 points and had nine rebounds.
Fresno State was limited to 22-of-65 shooting, including 8 of 30 on 3-pointers.
Gilbreath scored 17 for the Trojans, who were 21 for 55.
Both teams showed early-season rust with nine first-half turnovers apiece. Fresno State led 32-29 at the half.
Ross hit a 3-pointer to climb into third on the Bulldogs' career 3-point list with 189, passing Connie Krueger (1996-99).
