Preston Scott had four hits and drove in five runs to help Fresno Pacific rally for a 10-3 win over visiting Bethesda on Friday in the first game of the National Christian College Athletic Association West Region Playoff.
Scott hit a two-run triple to highlight a five-run sixth to help the Sunbirds (33-18) take game one of the best-of-three series. Steven Lozier went 2 for 5 with two doubles and three runs.
Sunbirds left-hander Wilson (9-2) Ashford allowed just one earned run and struck out five in eight innings.
The Flames (28-25) led by two before the Sunbirds scored eight unanswered across the sixth and eighth innings for the win. Fresno Pacific can punch its ticket and continue its NCCAA World Series title defense today with game two starting at noon at FPU Diamond.

Clovis superkart driver wins twice in Arizona
Clovis’ Carter Williams, driving for Phil Giebler Racing, won back-to-back feature races in S2 Semi-Pro Stock Moto in the TaG Junior and Senior SuperKarts! USA Fikse Wheels Pro Tour Spring Nationals last weekend in Glendale, Ariz.
Williams, who started on the pole in both features, has won the opening three rounds of the California ProKart Challenge.
He was runner-up to Marco Eakins on Saturday, but won after Eakins was penalized for jumping the start and dropped to second. Williams then won the 16-lap Sunday feature by 6.5 seconds.
