Hanford High golfer Lane Pulliam captured his second straight championship at the Len Ross Fresno City Junior Amateur.
But it wasn’t the runaway it appeared it might be going into the final round.
Pulliam, who began Thursday with an eight-stroke lead, double bogeyed the 17th hole at Copper River Country Club as Clovis North’s Blake Hathcoat came within one stroke.
But Pulliam straightened out his game in time, parring the final hole to win the boys 16-18 division at 72-73-63-75-283. A year ago, he won the boys 14-15. Hathcoat finished two back at 73-75-68-69-285.
Clovis North’s Tammy Lim also won by two strokes in the girls 15-18, shooting 76-82-69-73-300. Lim posted the top scores in third and fourth rounds.
Rocklin’s Nicole Schroeder (75-79-73-75-302) was second and University’s Jacqueleine Ngo (77-78-78-75-308) third.
Other Len Ross winners were: Ian Oehlschlaeger (boys 14-15), Connor Larkin (boys 12-13), Aidan Tran (boys 10-11), Ansen Tran (boys 7-9), Aya Enkoji (girls 12-14) and Ellie Sand (girls 10-11).
