Illinois' top-seeded 157-pounder Isaiah Martinez (Lemoore High) rolled to two victories Thursday at the NCAA Wrestling Championships in St. Louis.
Martinez opened with an 18-2 technical fall over Army's Russell Parsons, then he pinned Ohio's Spartak Chino in 1:25 during the round of 16.
Martinez, a three-time California prep champion during his four seasons at Lemoore, will face Virginia Tech's Nick Brascetta in Friday's quarterfinals. The semifinals are also Friday and the finals are Saturday night.
Martinez is 33-0 on the season and leads the nation with 11 tech falls.

Illinois teammate and former Clovis West two-time state champ Nikko Reyes lost his opening-round match at 184 pounds against Edinboro's Victor Avery 3-0.
Reyes, a two-time NCAA qualifier, stayed alive with a an 8-2 win over Duke's Jacob Kasper in the consolation bracket. He will face Arizona State's No. 3-seeded Blake Stauffer in an elimination match Friday.
