Connor Brodgon pitched seven scoreless innings and combined with two relievers on a three-hitter as Northern California No. 2-ranked Fresno City College blasted No. 4 Merced 9-0 on Tuesday in a Central Valley Conference baseball game.
Relievers Justin Heskett and Marco Pierce finished off the shutout for the Rams.
Scott Silva hit a three-run home run in the third inning to extend his hitting streak to 11 games for Fresno City (17-3, 12-1), which took advantage of 13 walks and two hit batters by Blue Devils pitchers.
The Rams are winners of five straight and will continue their series with Merced (14-8, 6-4) at 6 p.m. Thursday at John Euless Ballpark.

• Blake Edmonson went 5 for 5 with a triple and an RBI to back the three-hit, eight-inning effort of Jonathan Molina as College of the Sequoias downed Reedley 9-1 for its fourth straight victory.
Matt Cota had four of 20 hits for the Giants (11-9, 6-4). Alex Serna singled twice and scored the only run for the Tigers (6-13, 3-7).
• Anthony Cisneros drew a bases-loaded walk in the fifth inning to knock in what proved to be the winning run, and he added some insurance with a sacrifice fly in the seventh to help West Hills (5-15, 2-8) earn a 4-2 victory agianst Porterville (3-18, 0-10).
