It was a busy Saturday for former Fresno State star Derek Carr.
First, the Oakland Raiders starting quarterback made a surprise visit at Bulldogs spring practice and mingled with players and coaches. Carr spent time on the field at Bulldog Stadium after practice before heading to the locker room with players and coaches.
Several hours later, Carr went to Valley Christian Center, located at 4649 E. Shields Ave. and held the Carr Elite Mini Football Camp for 30 preselected youth with his brother, David. They also gave inspirational talks.
Gangland Redemption Ministries presented the event in collaboration with Valley Christian Center and the Knights of The Shield Raider Booster Club.
Never miss a local story.
Carr was a second-round pick in the 2014 NFL draft and finished his rookie NFL season with 3,270 passing yards and 21 touchdowns.
