Monsters cruise in playoffs against Gulls
Parker Olson scored two third-period goals and the Fresno Monsters racked up 75 shots in a dominating 6-0 victory against the San Diego Gulls in their best-of-three West Coast Hockey League playoffs opener Friday at Gateway Ice Center.
Jonathan Bengtsson scored in the first period for the only goal the Monsters would need. Goals by Mike Nolan and Conner Osborne (power play) in the second made it 3-0. After Olson found the net twice in the third, Gianmarco Guidon added another Fresno goal with 46 seconds left in the game.
Monsters goalie Nathan Churchill stopped all 16 shots he faced.

The second game of the series is at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Gateway, with the finale, if necessary, at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Gateway.
