Ex-Clovis East High star Robert Sandoval was named to the All-Pacific West second team for Azusa Pacific and Fresno Pacific's Trevon Clayton to the third as the conference announced its postseason honors Wednesday.
Sandoval, a 6-foot senior guard who was The Bee's Boys Basketball Player of the Year in 2010, led the league in assists at 5.5 per game while also averaging 10.2 points and 4.1 rebounds for the co-champion Cougars (24-4, 17-3), who as the No. 2 seed Friday will face Cal Baptist or Hawaii Pacific in the league tournament at Concordia in Irvine.
Clayton, who is from Orlando, Florida, was the only player in the league to average a double double (11.9 ppg, 10.8 rebounds) as the Sunbirds finished 9-19 overall and 5-15 in the conference. He finishes fourth on the school's career rebounds list with 726, fifth in field-goal percentage (.576) and seventh in blocks (78). His league-best 291 rebounds in 2014-15 is sixth on the Sunbirds' single-season list.

• Fresno Pacific's Jenay Herring was named to the All-PacWest women's third team and with fellow senior guard Keairra White to the National Christian College Athletic Association All-Region team. Herring led the Sunbirds in scoring (14.7) and assists (3.7) and the PacWest with 61 steals and ranks second in school history in career points (1,524) and 3-pointers (150) and third in assists (447), steals (247) and free throws (414). White averaged 11.6 points.
• Humboldt State junior Rakim Brown (Central High) was an honorable mention pick on the California Collegiate Athletic Association men's team after averaging 9.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game.
Bulldogs freshman earns MW tennis honor
Fresno State freshman Maiar Sherif Ahmed was named Mountain West women's tennis player of the week after leading the team to a pair of weekend road wins.
The Bulldogs, who have won 8 of 9 and risen to No. 62 nationally since starting 0-2, topped Boise State in their conference opener and then-No. 44 Colorado 4-1. Ahmed won a pair in singles and two in doubles.
Maiar Ahmed is on an 11-match winning streak in singles and doubles and has not dropped a match in duals this season.
Fresno Pacific opens twin bill with victory
Fresno Pacific snapped a four-game skid on the diamond as Nick Pate and Bryan Bucher knocked in runs in the top of the 11th of a 3-1 win over host Hawaii Hilo to open a PacWest doubleheader.
Kyle Rasmussen pitched three scoreless innings for the win. The Sunbirds (10-6, 1-4) were swept in a four-game series by Hawaii Pacific last weekend.
'Dogs win in lacrosse
Kyleigh Westgarth scored five goals as Fresno State held off visiting Campbell in a lacrosse match.
Caroline Dineen-Carlson scored four and Natalie Chaffin had seven saves for the Bulldogs (2-3). The Camels fell to 1-4.
