Manhoef returns to Fresno as Bellator 133 headliner
For the second time in five months, Melvin Manhoef is back in Fresno as the headliner on the latest Bellator mixed martial arts series event.
Manhoef (29-12-1) faces Alexander Shlemenko (50-9) in a middleweight bout at Bellator 133 on Friday at Save Mart Center.
Fights get under way at 5 p.m. Prelims will be shown on Spike.com, with the main card on Spike TV. The taped broadcast is at 9 p.m. on Comcast 39.

In September, Manhoef scored a first-round knockout over Doug Marshall of Visalia at Belator 125.
Also on Friday’s card is Chris Honeycutt (5-0), who fights out of Dethrone Base Camp in Fresno. He will face Clayton MacFarlane (4-0) in a welterweight fight.
JC baseball: Porterville cruises at Antelope Valley
Chris Bencoma pitched four-hit, shutout ball over seven innings and Ivan Galindo drove in three while going 4 for 5 as Porterville College steamrolled Antelope Valley 8-0 in a nonconference baseball game Thursday in Lancaster.
Galindo’s two-run double highlighted a three-run fifth that gave the Pirates a 5-0 lead.
Bencoma (1-1), a freshman right-hander who prepped at Visalia’s El Diamante High, struck out seven and walked two as Porterville (3-6) won its second straight after a 1-6 start.
• Colt Parshall hit a two-out walk-off single to left to drive as Modesto edged Reedley 2-1. Alex Serna’s sacrifice fly drove in the lone run for the Tigers (3-6) in the third, with Modesto (2-3-1) coming right back to tie it in its half of the inning. McKay McNair allowed five hits but only an unearned run in eight innings for Reedley, which is 0-5 on the road to start the season.
Mountain West honors two Fresno State golfers
Fresno State’s Mimi Ho and Hannah Sodersten and Colorado State’s Allie Andersen were named Mountain West Conference golfers of the week for tournaments played Feb. 8-10.
All three tied for fifth at the Gold Rush tournament in Seal Beach. It’s the first conference honor for the freshman Ho and second for junior Sodersten.
