Wilson Ashford tied Fresno Pacific's career wins record as the Sunbirds swept a doubleheader Thursday at Cal State Stanislaus, winning 3-1 and 7-1 in Turlock.
The left-hander tossed six innings of one-run ball in game 1 for his 21st win, tying Kelyn Schellenberg (2007-2010). Schellenberg had been credited with 20 victories, but a check of program records Thursday night showed he had been shorted one win in 2010.
Ashford, who starred at Clovis North High, walked one and struck out one while improving to 21-8 lifetime. Schellenberg was 21-7.
Tanner Irwin pitched a scoreless ninth for the save.
Jake Martinez dealt for the Sunbirds in game 2, striking out 11 in seven innings in his Fresno Pacific debut after redshirting last season.
Baron Bower homered on the first pitch of the day and totaled four hits, three runs and two steals in two games . Michael Hostetler went 4-for-5 with two RBIs in the nightcap against the Warriors (2-2).
The Sunbirds (3-0) have won 26 of 30 dating to last season.
