USA Taekwondo national team member Priscilla Ahra Jo, 13 of Clovis, returned home with three medals dangling around her neck after competing at a pair of tournaments in Mexico this past weekend.
Competing with Team USA at the 2014 Pan American Championships, Jo paired with teammate Casey Liu to win silver in pair poomsae in the girls cadet (ages 12 to 14) division. At the Mexico International Open, Jo silvered in individual poomsae and took bronze in sparring, each in girls cadet.
Both tournaments were Sept. 11-15 at the Estadio Olímpico in Aguascalientes, Mexico.
In July, Jo won sparring gold at the USA Taekwondo National Championships in girls cadet, earning her a spot on Team USA.
According to the USAT website, Jo, who trains locally at Sunnyside Taekwondo under Master Derrik Carter, is the first and youngest athlete to become a USAT national team member in both sparring and individual poomsae in the same year.
