Clovis West, Fresno Pacifc alum Joey Wells takes over Indiana State women's hoops

Joey Wells, a graduate of Clovis West High and Fresno Pacific, has been promoted to head women's basketball coach at Indiana State.

Joey Wells, a graduate of Clovis West High and Fresno Pacific, was promoted this month to head women's basketball coach at Indiana State.

Wells takes over for Teri Moren, who left to become the coach at Indiana.

As associate head coach in his second season with the Sycamores, Wells helped guide Indiana State to a 20-12 record and second straight appearance in the Women's National Invitational Tournament.

Wells previously worked on the staffs at Lamar University for five seasons and Division II Missouri Western for four.

He is a 1996 graduate of Fresno Pacific University, earning a bachelor's in physical education. He and his wife, Tina, reside in Terre Haute and have three grown children — Tanner (wife Jennifer), Alex and Carlie.

The couple also has a two-year-old granddaughter, Brylee.
