I am saddened to read of the preventable death of Federico Silva, 47, caused by a very young woman who chose to drive after drinking. Most conscientious women, at the possibility of becoming pregnant, or knowing they are pregnant, stay off all “harmful to the fetus” drugs or alcohol.
An intelligent young woman, Candice Ooley, surely is aware of how the mother’s actions during pregnancy will affect her baby, physically and mentally. Normal behavior and learning are often impaired, causing years of difficulty in the classroom and beyond. I urge young people, men and women, to ponder their choices and consequences.
