I think I’d rather not have President Barack Obama give my graduation address. A few years ago, he admonished the graduates that if you’re successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else made it happen.
At Howard University the other day, he said successful people are just lucky.
My advice for them is that success is preparation and opportunity meeting.
I prefer what Univerity of Southern California President Rufus B. Von KleinSmid said to us at our 1958 commencement: Be bold but not too bold, but better the excess than the less.
