I saw in the news that California lawmakers want to put commercial advertising on the overhead warning signs on the freeways. It’s against the law to text or talk on mobile devices while driving; it’s just too distracting and dangerous.
It seems that President Dwight D. Eisenhower prevented signs alongside the just-completed Interstate system because of the distraction and danger as we motored along at highway speeds. This prohibition was later reinforced by Lady Bird Johnson in her Beautify America campaign.
Anyway, it’s OK now because the state really need the bucks. Remember – buckle up and drive safely!
