We all know it was the owner’s fault. We all know that every dog has a “pack mentality” and that even a little Yorkie will jump in once the pack is in fighting mode. It saddens me that someone will get a pit bull for protection and then lock them or chain them in the yard until they are bored and unloved or teased to the point of anger.
My pit bulls play with my 4-year-old granddaughter and are gentle and loving to her at all times. It still amazes me about the ignorance of this breed. Because of their strength, it is always best to fence them in a secure yard so they can’t get out.
The problem here is not the pit bull; the problem is the owner of the dog! Banning this beautiful breed will end badly like it did in Denver. We can learn from others’ mistakes.
