In reviewing new California laws, it is quite obvious that our government is not only over-reaching in many areas but also has a liberal political agenda that drives many of these bills.
Assembly Bill 775 is a great example of both. Why should a Pregnancy medical center be required to post a sign advertising the availability of public family-planning programs which include providing abortions? The purpose of a pregnancy medical center is to come alongside women and men who find themselves confronted with an unplanned pregnancy and provide free medical services, advocacy and education.
In addition, they offer pregnancy/parenting classes, resources and referrals for ongoing support of their pregnancy decision. It is true that these centers do not provide or refer for abortion, however, they do provide a compassionate counsel, love and support that is sometimes lacking in an unplanned pregnancy.
One of the ironies is that pregnancy medical centers are all supported by private individuals who believe in providing support for these men and women who find themselves in a challenging time in their lives. Most abortion providers, on the other hand, receive massive amounts of public funding and advertising and are still having trouble with declining numbers of clients.
