Panic isn’t pretty. Danger brings out the best in some people, (think New York firefighters on 9/11), and brings out the worst in others, (think Donald Trump). If the goal of terrorism is to provoke terror, then the response to terrorism must be the refusal to succumb to terror and panic.
Panic can be contagious, and words have consequences. Scapegoating and the provocation of ethnic or religious hatred have historically led to mob violence and even ethnic cleansing. Take a deep breath, folks. Resist the temptation to give in to panic and hatred.
You are much more likely to die from a traffic collision than a terrorist attack.
